Isis IP is a UK-China company, founded and operated by a group of experienced system & IC designers.

Today digital wireless broadcasting technology allows people to access Multimedia information, watch news and TV from their mobile phone or PDA. However, the power consumption of such receivers is generally excessive.

Isis IP addresses this drawback, focusing on silicon IP for digital wireless applications and targeting low power consumption within efficient silicon area.

Our first product is an embedded IP solution for a DAB COFDM channel decoder & MPEG1 L2 audio decoder, which is fully synthesisable to silicon technology of 0.35um or below. The silicon size of our DAB IP is only 3 sqmm in 0.18um CMOS technology for full rate decoding capacity, and uses a maximum 65MHz internal frequency, therefore consuming extremely low power.

Our second product is a single chip DAB receiver decoder named ID200 which consists of a DAB baseband decoder and a MPEG L2 audio decoder, with extremely low power dissipation and small silicon area, at very low cost.

ID200 provides digital mixing, synchronization/tracking and demodulation of a full rate DAB ensemble for Eureka-147. It can demodulate up to two sub-channels of audio, data and video simultaneously in a single DAB ensemble, making audio available via an on-chip MPEG L2 audio decoder, and making data and video available to a host processor for further processing and display. The combination of this small footprint IC and the high decoding data rate allow cost sensitive portable device access to receive digital multimedia broadcast (T-DMB) data at rate up to 1.8Mbps. 

The power consumption of the chip is 60mW for full rate decoding and 26mW for 128K audio decoding. ID200 can be packed into a 48-lead LQFP package, with a very small footprint at 7 x 7 x 1.4mm3.

ID200 supports most current available DAB RF tuners and more importantly ID200 enables those RF tuners to work in power cycling mode so total power consumption of the combination of ID200 + RF can be less than 100mW. 

Isis IP will provide DAB/DMB receiving solutions based on the combinations. Evaluation boards of DAB receiver and PC version of DMB receiver are available and the demo can be arranged in our lab. 

ID200 can be ordered in quantity for the price of 6 USD each. This will significantly reduce the cost of the receivers.
